Activation guide

Switch your DJI to its full FCC transmission profile, usually under two minutes, fully offline.

Before you start

An active license

An OpenFCC license, or an active free trial on your account.

A supported setup

A supported controller and aircraft. Check the compatibility list first.

Your DJI flight app

DJI Fly or DJI Pilot installed and already working with your drone.

DJI RC Pro 2 / RC Plus: install with the launcher

Use the launcher on your computer. Connect the controller by USB and the launcher installs OpenFCC and turns on FCC for you. 4G is set up through the launcher too.

A Mac app that installs OpenFCC onto your DJI controller over USB, no adb, no terminal. It walks you through enabling USB debugging, installs the app, and auto-grants the permissions it needs.

  1. 1

    Download and run the launcher

Get the launcher for your computer below, then open it.

  2. 2

    Connect the controller by USB

Plug the controller into your computer with a USB cable and wait for the launcher to detect it.

  3. 3

    Let it install

The launcher installs OpenFCC and sets up 4G. When it finishes, continue to 'Turn on FCC' below.

DJI RC 2: install the helper apps first

The DJI RC 2 is locked down out of the box, so before turning on FCC you install a few small apps from a microSD card. No PC required, just follow the steps in order.

Downloads (RC 2 only)

Both files required

Download BOTH the helper apps and the OpenFCC app onto the microSD card. The OpenFCC app is the one people forget, and without it you cannot activate.

  1. 1

    Open the Settings panel

Insert the microSD card, swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap the hexagon button at the top right to open Settings.

  2. 2

    Open the Storage menu

In Settings, tap the Storage menu.

  3. 3

    Open the audio menu

    Next, tap the audio-related menu.

  4. 4

    Open the file list

Tap the = (menu) button at the top left, then open the SD card to see the list of files to install.

  5. 5

    Install Package Installer

Install Package Installer. Install only, do not open it.

  6. 6

    Install File Manager

Install File Manager. Install only, do not open it.

  7. 7

    Install ATV

Install ATV. Install only, do not open it.

  8. 8

    Install OpenFCC

Install OpenFCC. Install only, do not open it.

  9. 9

    Install MyGesture, then open it

Install MyGesture and open this one app.

  10. 10

    Find the permissions section

Scroll down and find the 'Please grant required permissions' section.

  11. 11

    Grant accessibility access

Tap Set on 'Accessibility service' and turn MyGesture on in the list.

  12. 12

    Confirm it is enabled

Go back and check that 'Gesture enabled' is on at the top.

  13. 13

    Go to the home screen

Swipe up from the bottom-left corner to reach the new home screen.

  14. 14

    Launch OpenFCC

On the new home screen, open OpenFCC and activate your license. Setup is complete.

Only MyGesture is opened after installing. Install the other apps (Package Installer, File Manager, ATV, OpenFCC) without opening them. After you grant the accessibility permission, launch OpenFCC from the new home screen.

Turn on FCC (all controllers)

Once the app is installed, do this on any controller to switch FCC on.

  1. 1

Activate your license or free trial

Open OpenFCC, sign in, and confirm your license or free trial is active.

  2. 2

Open your flight app and confirm the feed

Launch DJI Fly or DJI Pilot and make sure you can see the live video feed from the drone.

  3. 3

    Enable FCC mode in OpenFCC

In OpenFCC, tap Enable FCC mode and wait until the status reads Enabled.

  4. 4

Confirm the signal in the flight app

Switch back to the flight app, open the Transmission tab, and confirm the stronger signal.

What the switch looks like

Each pair is the same controller in the same spot, before and after enabling FCC. Watch the signal graph: FCC unlocks the fuller transmit profile your hardware already supports. Tap an image to enlarge.

DJI RC Pro 2

CE (default)
On CE the green “Stable” line stays jumpy and rides high, spiking up toward the -90 dBm mark. That restless trace is a tight power margin: the link wavers with interference and drops off sooner.
FCC (enabled)
FCC enabled, same hardware and same spot: the trace settles flat along the -110 dBm floor. A calm, low line means a wide signal margin, a steadier link, and noticeably more range.

DJI RC Plus

CE (default)
On CE the channel picker opens only a narrow slice of the 5.8 GHz band, so there are few clean channels to fall back on when the air is congested.
FCC (enabled)
FCC enabled: the picker exposes more of the band (the frequency scale runs further right), so the controller can hop to a cleaner channel for a stronger, steadier picture link.
