FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before buying.

What exactly does OpenFCC do?

OpenFCC installs on supported DJI controllers with a built-in screen. It applies FCC RF-region switching to the paired aircraft for stronger transmission and longer range. On supported controller and aircraft combinations, it also enables DJI 4G (cellular Enhanced Transmission), allowing the cellular network to supplement the transmission link. See Compatibility for exact pairings and verified 4G countries.

Is this legal where I live?

RF-power, cellular, and aviation rules differ by country. A country appearing in our 4G verification list means only that real-world operation was confirmed there; it is not legal approval. You are responsible for checking and following local RF, telecom, and aviation rules before use.

Is the app free? What do I pay for?

Installing OpenFCC is free, and the 3-hour trial lets you test FCC and 4G on a supported setup. You pay once for the currently available Controller License. It binds to one supported DJI controller and includes FCC plus 4G for supported controller and aircraft combinations. There is no subscription. The RC-N phone-connected Aircraft License has not been released.

What do I need to activate?

Install OpenFCC on a supported controller, connect it to the internet, and sign in with your email. For a paid license, enter the license key sent to your purchase email. The 3-hour trial can be started in the app.

What is the license tied to?

The currently available Controller License binds permanently to the serial number of the first controller it activates on. Reinstalling OpenFCC on that same controller does not use another license, and the license covers supported aircraft used with that controller.

Can I use one license with multiple aircraft, or move it to another controller?

One Controller License covers supported aircraft used with the licensed controller. It cannot be moved, released, or transferred to another controller, so you need one license per controller, not one per aircraft.

Does it need an internet connection?

Internet is required to sign in and activate. FCC can continue working offline after activation. 4G is not an offline feature: it requires working DJI cellular hardware, an active SIM/data plan and coverage, plus an active data connection for OpenFCC’s 4G session validation.

How is it delivered?

After payment, your license key and controller-specific setup links are sent by email. RC Pro, RC Plus, and RC Pro 2 use the desktop launcher; RC 2 uses the microSD helper-app and OpenFCC packages.

Why isn't it on the Google Play Store?

OpenFCC runs on supported DJI controllers with built-in screens and requires a controller-specific installation path and permissions. It is therefore distributed through the desktop launcher or the RC 2 microSD package, not through Google Play. It is not currently installed on a phone.

What's your refund policy?

Because this is instantly delivered digital content, sales are generally final, subject to any mandatory rights that apply. Before buying, check your exact controller and aircraft combination and use the 3-hour trial to test both FCC and 4G. See the Refund Policy for details.
